Mr. FOG at the Frito Lay Plant

One of the most difficult jobs we’ve had in the last 10 years was cleaning oil in the cooling room at the Frito Lay plant in Beloit, Wisconsin.
After the chips cook in the deep fryers, the hot oil on the chips comes off like a mist or steam that falls onto the floor and, in fact, covers everything. The floor was as slippery as a hockey rink. It was an OSHA slip-and-fall hazard. They wanted to put a coating on the floor to prevent slip and fall situations.
Microbial Restoration Services Mr. FOG product was the first of 30 products previously used attempting to solve the slip-and-fall problem.
Previous products used (caustic chemicals) did not fully clean the floor of oil. The chemicals sometimes will loosen as much as 80 percent of the filth for a short period of time, but if it is not quickly cleaned up it will harden. In this case, the chemicals did not remove the oil but added to the oily mess by being smeared around and then hardening and combined with the filth in the deep crevices and pores of the surfaces. In contrast, the microbes actually eat and digest the oil and filth and change it into water.
The cooling room was 45 degrees. A colder situation requires more time for the product to work. Colder means a longer “dwell time.” We allowed 3 hours for the product to sit on the surface.
It was easy to clean up using Mr. Genesis which encapsulated the liquid remaining. That was vacuumed up and thrown away in the dumpster.
After cleaning up all of the oily floor, the slip-and-fall floor safety membrane was now very easy to apply. Mr. FOG microbial cleaner was proven to be the best solution for this kind of situation.
